Myrrh - Somalian, 1 ounce
Our myrrh gum resin, Commiphora myrrha, is "first choice certified organic" gum resin from Somalia.
It comes from a small scrubby tree from the Middle East and northeast Africa which has been traded for thousands of years. In the Christian Bible, it is a gift to baby Jesus from the visiting Magi.
Historically, myrrh has been used to improve digestion and boost the immune system. Various traditions have used it to treat coughs, gum disease, wounds, candida and skin diseases. This deep reddish-brown resin is especially important for oral health and can be found in modern toothpastes. It is also thought to encourage circulation, simulate the immune system, and encourage a woman's natural cycle.
Myrrh has been used since antiquity to inspire prayer and meditation, and to fortify and revitalize the spirit.
