Zeus
Known as Jupiter to the Romans, Zeus is the king of the Greek gods, and ruler of their home upon Mount Olympus, and is traditionally heralded as the father of Gods and men. Born to the titans Cronus and Rhea, it was said that Zeus forced his father to regurgitate his siblings (Cronus swallowed his children as soon as they were born). As a reward, he was given the thunderbolt, which he used to overthrow his Father and the other Titans, casting them into the underworld of Tartarus, and become King of the Gods.
Sharing the world with his brothers Poseidon and Hades, he became the God of the sky and thunder, and it was said that he fathered many of the famous figures and deities of Greek mythology.
Here he is shown in classical Greek or Roman styling; a bearded man nude but for copper bands that wrap his arms and crown his brow, poised as though he is about to hurl a bolt of thunder. Sculpted of cold cast resin and hand painted, the classical figure of Zeus appears is leant the appearance of having been sculpted of bronze or copper, making it a beautiful and distinguished piece for the altar or home.
The statue measures 9 1/2 inches in height and 9 inches wide.
