Patanjali (Saint of Yoga) Statue

Sculpted with exquisite detail from brass, this beautiful statue portrays Patanjali, who is said to be the compiler of the Yoga Sutras, an important work about Yoga Practice.

It is said that Patanjali was even an incarnation of Adi Sesa, who in turn was the first ego-expansion of Visnu, Sanskarshana. Through this, he is sometimes regarded as an incarnation of God, teaching and defending the practice of Yoga.

Among other traditions, it is said that that Patanjali learned Yoga as a disciple of the great Guru Handhi Deva, watching Shiva and Kali dance and perform the 108 mystic Katranas which formed the foundation of Yoga.

Regardless of these traditions, he is widely revered as one of the great influences and providers of Yoga, and through his teachings have many achieved a greater enlightenment through Yoga.

The brass statue measures approximately 5 inches high, 3 inches wide, and 2 1/2 inches deep, and even provides a small tray that might be used for offerings or incense before this revered figure.
