Looking for a unique gift item for the herbalist or artistic person on your list? You will find nothing else like this work!A truly artistic and impressive compilation, featuring 40 different artists and over 4 hours of music in a gorgeous, glossy, highly illustrated, 96 page hardcover book with four CDs which fit in holders on the front and back covers. Various musicians, inspired to create musical and visual character pieces to embody their responses to a wide range of herbs.
The selected musicians were asked to choose a plant or tree and then dedicate a song to whichever was chosen. The participants were also asked to provide a discernable image of their selection. Anything could have led one to the other. Sometimes supplementary text has been added by the participants. In the end an amazing of plants is represented here. By no means is the field thoroughly covered, yet forty species or genera are brought to light.
Some of the music you will find here is far from traditional Western fare. There are songs that have been crafted using highly unorthodox methods that may enhance your curiosity about a specific species. One musician runs a violin bow over tea leaves and utilizes the sounds generated for sonic restructuring. Another simply shifts two pine cones in the palm of his hand and electronically manipulates the results in the studio. A third creates an instrument from the tree itself and then uses it to record his song.
