The goddess Hecate is one of the "dark" goddesses. One of the oldest pre-patriarchal Earth Goddess, she was passionately venerated in ancient times by the people but also to be feared: as ruler of all forms of magic was the "Witch Goddess" open the door to the underworld, allowing contact with spirits, ghosts and the dead, as an oracle deity reveal the future to grant her admirers power and wealth.
