Basil Leaf-Sweet-Cut and Sifted-Organic-1 pound
Culpepper, an English herbalist from the 17th century, used basil to draw out venom from bites and stings. Basil is thought to remove heat and toxins from the bloodstream, liver, and intestines: in a sense, it rules the fiery basilisk. Basil appears to stimulate then relax the brain and the nervous system. Apparently it works on both the sympathetic and the parasympathetic nervous system, bringing balance to the autonomic nervous system. This means that is plays a role in restoring the health of the part of the body hardest hit by stress. Beyond these issues, it has been used on a host of health problems, from colds and "lung exhaustion" to IBS to rheumatoid arthritis.
Symbolized by Mars and Scorpio and associated with the ancient Greek element of Fire, Basil is used in rites to Vishnu, Erzulie, and Krishna. It symbolizes love, exorcism, wealth, protection, the religious holiday Candlemas, and courage in the face of certain danger.
