Tethong, Kelsang Chukie
Considered the finest Tibetan folk singer of her generation, Chukie Thethong spent 11 years at the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts in Dharamsala, India, learning songs and technique from elders who once sang freely in Tibet. Music by her group Gang Chenpa appears extensively in the film Seven Years in Tibet - one of her many projects to preserve the vitality of true Tibetan folk music. On this solo album, her gentle voice relaxes, enveloping listeners with a Tara-like loving and endless kindness.
