Thomas Cleary is the translator of Opening the Dragon Gate (Tuttle, 1996) and The Story of Chinese Zen (Tuttle, 1995), as well as The Art of War, The Book of Five Rings, The Japanese Art of War, and dozens of other titles on Martial Artsl Philosophysophy, Buddhism, Taoism, religion, Philosophysophy, and motivation. He lives in Oakland, California.
